OUR 1000D NYLON CHICKENTEX SUPREME

Chicken Tex Supreme is a 1000D nylon fabric especially made for Crumpler. It’s the main component in many of our bags. The tread size is specified in Denier (D) and indicates the thinness of the fabric. 1000D means that 9000m of this fabric weigh 1000g or that a fibre that’s 9km long weighs 1 kg. The higher the number before the D, the heavier is the fibre or the yarn.

A special and distinctive characteristic of our Chickentex Supreme is the dual tone effect that’s woven in, as well as the noble shine of the surface. Similar to functional clothing, all Crumpler nylon bags have been pre-impregnated. However, this protection doesn’t last forever which means that you should check regularly if the impregnation is still intact. When water doesn’t roll off the bag anymore, it’s time to renew the impregnation with a commercially available, PFC free textile impregnation spray. To clean your bag, please just use a damp cloth. Please do not wash in the washing machine.

OUR 100% RECYCLED 1000D NYLON

Our 1000D nylon is made of 100% recycled pre-consumer nylon which is collected as textile waste and waste yarn. It’s a 1000 Denier and is very tightly woven for maximum strength. The most important characteristics of the fabric are, among others:

• Excellent strength and durability
• High tear and abrasion resistance
• High pilling resistance

The material has been pre-impregnated PFC free and is therefore water repellent and environmentally friendly. The impregnation is applied on the front after dyeing and before the drying process. However, this protection doesn’t last forever. You should regularly check if the impregnation is still intact. When water doesn’t roll off the bag anymore, it’s time to renew the impregnation with a commercially available, PFC free textile impregnation spray. To clean your bag, please just use a damp cloth. Please do not wash in the washing machine.

OUR 400D NYLON

Our 400D nylon is a specially made material for Crumpler and is used as the main material for some of our bags and backpacks.

The "D" stands for "denier". Denier is simply a unit of measurement that describes the linear mass density of a particular material. It is calculated using the mass in grams of a single 9000 metre fibre. Therefore, a 9000-metre-long fibre weighs approximately 1 gram. 1 denier = 1 g / 9000 m.

The fabric is characterised by an excellent balance between weight and durability combined with high abrasion resistance, water resistance and tear strength.

All Crumpler nylon bags are pre-impregnated. But of course, this protection doesn't last forever, so you should regularly check that the impregnation is still intact. If the water no longer beads up on the bag, it's time to renew the impregnation with a commercially available PFC-free textile impregnation spray.

For cleaning, please only wipe with a damp cloth. Please do not wash in the washing machine.

OUR RIPSTOP NYLON

Ripstop denotes a fabric that’s particularly tear-resistant. The thin nylon fabric 210T or 330D has been interspersed with a thicker thread every few millimetres. Should there be small damages in the fabric, that will prevent the fabric from tearing on. We use our tear-resistant Ripstop nylon a lot as lining in bags and backpacks and, because auf it’s lightness and durability, in travel luggage.

The water-repellent coating prevents spilled liquids from penetrating through the tissue.
For cleaning, please wipe with a damp cloth only. Please do not wash in the washing machine.

OUR 100% RECYCLED RIPSTOP POLYESTER

Most of our products come with water-repellent inner lining. The lining consists of 100% recycled 150D or 300D ripstop polyester which is made from post-consumer waste. The higher the number before the D, the heavier is the fibre or the yarn. The thin fabric has been interspersed with a thicker thread every few millimetres. Should there be small damages in the fabric, that will prevent the fabric from tearing on.
The fabric is produced with a water-repellent eco finish, without using environmentally harmful fluorocarbons (PFC).

To clean your bag, please just use a damp cloth. Please do not wash in the washing machine.

OUR 150D RIPSTOP POLYESTER

Most of our products are equipped with a water-repellent lining. The lining fabric is made of 150D Ripstop Polyester. The higher the number before the D, the heavier the fibre or yarn. The thin fabric is interspersed with a thicker thread every few millimetres, which prevents further tearing in the event of minor damage to the fabric. The fabric is finished with a water-repellent coating.

For cleaning, please only wipe with a damp cloth. If more heavily soiled, have it dry-cleaned. Please do not wash in the washing machine.

OUR 100% RPET 900D POLYESTER

rPET is a polyester material made of recycled PET bottles and which is reused for textiles as well as for bags. A clearly structured and soft surface is typical for bags made of PET yarn. Furthermore, PET as a material is robust as well as water and dirt repellent. The use of recycled PET for bags is especially suitable for bags for outdoor usage.

Similar to functional clothing, all Crumpler polyester bags have been pre-impregnated. Thus, the bag is weatherproof (water-repellent) for the time being. Not only can water not get into the interior of the bag. Dirt can’t settle deep in the fabric either.

OUR 100% RECYCLED RETRO-REFLECTIVE

The retro reflective material is a DMF free reflective tape made of 100% recycled polyester fleece, certified according to GRS (Global Recycled Standard). Retro-reflective means that a large part of the reflecting light is lead back directly to the original light source.

Bags and backpacks with reflecting details are visible from a distance of up to 150m. Because of its very good abrasion values, the material is often used for sport shoes. To clean your bag, please just use a damp cloth. Please do not wash in the washing machine.

OUR NEOPRENE

Neoprene is a synthetic rubber which is known as the material that diving suits are made of. Thanks to its excellent insulating trait as well as its softness and elasticity, we often use our high quality neoprene for laptop sleeves, lens pouches and handle padding. Durability and water resistance are also among the positive characteristics of neoprene.

Our neoprene is made of a very high quality and extremely dense neoprene core and is concealed by tear-resistant nylon jersey as well as water-resistant, thanks to the “Moses effect”.

Our neoprene can be cleaned by washing gently by hand with a soft cloth or sponge.
Mild soapy water, dish soap or a mild shampoo help to remove larger soiling. If it is heavily soiled, have it cleaned by dry cleaning. Renew the impregnation from time to time with a commercially available PFC-free impregnation spray. Do not machine wash.

OUR PLASTIC COATED FABRIC (TARPAULIN)

Plactic coated fabric, often colloquially referred to as tarpaulin, is a textile whose base material (we usually use a recycled polyester) has been coated on one or both sides. The material is very durable and waterproof on at least one side.

Due to the very good abrasion values, we often use the material as bottom protection or as weatherproof pocket flaps.

For cleaning, please wipe with a damp cloth only. Commercially available cockpit or plastic care products are suitable as care products, and, good old floor wax for shiny surfaces.

OUR COATED 600D POLYESTER

Our water-repellent 600D polyester fabric has a matt PU coating and is therefore extremely durable and very easy to clean. For cleaning, please only wipe with a mild soap solution and a damp cloth.

Commercially available cockpit or plastic care products are suitable as care products. Please do not wash in the washing machine.

OUR 300D OXFORD POLYESTER

Our 300D Oxford polyester is specially made for Crumpler and is used as the main material for some of our bags, backpacks and accessories. The fabric is characterised by its textile matt appearance, its characteristic two-tone (linen look) and an excellent balance between weight and durability.

All Crumpler bags and backpacks are pre-impregnated. Of course, this protection doesn't last forever, so you should regularly check whether the impregnation is still intact. If the water no longer pearls off the bag, it is time to renew the impregnation with a commercially available PFC-free textile impregnation spray. For cleaning, please wipe with a damp cloth only. Please do not wash in the washing machine.

OUR „VEGGIE LEATHER“

The "veggie leather" is made of a coated, weather-resistant material that consists of 100% recycled polyester Ecoya fibers and which we ironically call "veggie leather" because of its environmentally friendly properties.

The fabric Ecoya is particularly economical in terms of water consumption, as most of the dyeing process is omitted. The colour of the fabric is already determined by colour chips during the production of the fibers, even before they are spun into yarn. This eliminates the usual dyeing process, which uses a lot of water and energy. This also reduces the use of chemicals.

Ecoya has excellent properties such as lightfastness and water resistance. The fabric has a pleasant feel thanks to its additional matt coating. For cleaning, please wipe with a damp cloth only. Please do not wash in the washing machine.

OUR WATERPROOF ZIPPERS

Our high quality waterproof zips are a little more "sluggish" than conventional zips and therefore need to be maintained from time to time.

To ensure that the sealing lips retain their elasticity and continue to protect against dust, moisture, salt, corrosion and UV radiation, we recommend a commercially available lubricant and care product to be applied as a liquid or as a care stick, e.g. "Zipper Stick" from Gearaid. Regular use will prolong the service life of the zips!
